DIY Doggie Pillow

Today I decided I was going to get some DIY things done around the house since Mike got paid. I went to Home Goods and bought us some new pillows since we’ve been miserable with our pillows since February. Literally 6 months. That’s a long time to be sleeping sad. We had the $12 Duck Down pillows from Ikea and they were WAY too soft and floppy for us (sad face).

So anyway, I found some firm Ralph Lauren pillows at HomeGoods for the same price and I was going to buy dog beds for our 2 small dogs since we’re no longer crating them. Since we’re on such a tight budget, I had a better idea to sew some quick dog beds out of some scrap fabric I had and the fluff from our “old” pillows. I don’t know WHY I thought that would be a good idea, but I ended up with a HUGE mess of white feathers all over the floor.

I figured, let me just get these things done and I’ll figure out the clean up later. 2 doggie pillows and a quick dyson vacuum job later, and I think Bunny approves. Rocky is still on our couch but I’m trying to entice him down to the pet bed. LOL.

Anyway, it was a great / not so great idea to repurpose the stuffing from our old pillows. I would’ve just stuffed in the pillow but they were too narrow, I wanted more of a square, so there it is.

I am into so many different hobbies. I really enjoy trying new things, and when I do, I tend to jump in and fully immerse. While I haven’t completely given up on running, there’s been so many other things I’ve chosen to do with my time. No excuses. I’m pretty busy with our toddler, and I love that.

I’ve also stayed busy with my little Etsy stationery store, and for fun, I’ve picked up some sewing projects. I made a little fanny pack / hip pouch, and most recently a maxi dress. I’m thinking I like sewing bags more than clothes, but I think clothes takes more practice and finesse.

I was blessed to be gifted a lovely Bernina 802 sewing machine and the first thing I made was this awesome carrier.

After that, since we were going to Orlando, I tackled this hip sack/ fanny pack from Daisy Janie:

I’ll do a separate post with more projects, but I like to keep documentation of what I’m working on, so there it is!
